That is what was for dinner tonight !


Yesterday evening I made my very first ever Pecan  Pie.  It is only recently in the last couple of years that I have grown to like pecans.  I had all the stuff so I made a pie.  I may have undercooked it.  I got a beautiful looking pie on top, soup underneath.   I followed the recipe on the back of the Karo jar and only cooked it for 50 min.  I put it back in the oven today and cooked it for 30 more minutes, but the damage was done. 
So I have learned what not to do.  We will have to wait cause this is a lot of pie filling to eat for me and Pop (with moderation).  I wonder if I can put it in canning jars and freeze it?  Might be better later.

For dinner tonight I made Spaghetti from scratch.  I haven't made sauce from scratch for a really long time.
I used no salt added sauce  and paste.  I cooked half a white onion, 2 cloves of garlic and about a 6 cremini mushrooms and 4 button mushrooms.  I used ground turkey flavored with poultry seasoning and I jar of heart smart Prego spaghetti sauce.  To add in the flavor I added some sugar since we can't add salt.  It was really good sauce.  I cooked it for 2hrs in the am and then added the meat, onions, mushrooms and garlic when it was closer to dinner time.
We also had a small green salad, gotta have veg with dinner.  I haven't made a sunday dinner in along time and this was really good. I do miss being able to put sausages in the sauce, that is how we used to do it along time ago, but with age comes diet restrictions.
